Watch: Composting & urban farming at a high school in Brisbane

Jonathan Sriranganathan shows us through a garden nestled away in the concrete bowels of St Laurence’s College in South Brisbane. The school is composting on-site, cycling nutrients through an aquaponics system with jade perch and goldfish, and producing free range eggs and organic herbs and vegetables. Most of their materials are recycled/donated/bought second-hand off Gumtree, and the school’s manual arts students have made most of the garden beds and benches as part of their woodwork classes.
