Soil Week Australia 2025: Get Creative and Celebrate the World Beneath Our Feet!

LOCCAL is excited to help spread the word about the 2025 Healthy Soils Competition, proudly run by Healthy Soils Australia and Soil Week Australia and supported by Local Food Connect.

Soil Week Australia is a celebration of the rich amazing world beneath our feet kicking off each year on 5 December, in alignment with World Soil Day.

The theme for 2025

“The World Beneath Our Feet – Its Importance to Our Food and Environment”

Students from across the country are invited to get creative and shine a spotlight on the vital role of soil in our lives, food systems, and ecosystems. Whether you’re into storytelling, performing, drawing, filming, or writing—there’s a way for everyone to join in and celebrate the living soil that sustains us all.

Entry ideas include:

• Plays
• Songs or raps
• Dances
• Short videos
• Artwork
• Poems

All entries must be digital, making it easy for students everywhere to participate.

Prizes:

• 1st Prize in each school category: $500
• 2nd Prize in each school category: $100
• Homeschoolers: $50 JB Hi-Fi voucher
• Every participant receives a printed certificate!

This is a fantastic opportunity for schools, preschools, home-schoolers, and specialist education groups to connect classroom learning with real-world regenerative principles.
