WiA Soil Smart Workshop: Testing & understanding your soil

Join us in person to dive into the world of soil! This workshop is perfect if you’re curious about what’s happening beneath your feet. Learn how to test your own soil.

Soil samping

Bring a soil sample (dig down to 10cm deep and collect a sandwich bag size of dirt) and learn how to use the phTextura Spoon to:

• test your soil’s pH
• understand soil texture and what it means
• test the biology of your soil

There will also be a demonstration from Reef Catchments staff on taking soil core samples and how to distiguish soil layers.

What to bring:

• Chair
• Suitable footwear for walking
• Water bottle
• Hat

What we’ll provide:

• Smoko (please let me know if you have dietary requirements)
• Great location to give us a chance to chat about what’s happening with the WiA in 2026.
