LOCCAL is a recognised not-for-profit organisation and as a registered charity since 2024. Our purpose is to support people organising and contributing to community-based composting activities.
Our story
In 2023 we embarked on a mission to connect the multitudes of community composting practitioners across Australia with the support, camaraderie, and resources we all needed. What started out as an shared dinner discussion in Fitzroy has now grown into a thriving organisation, thanks to the hard work, dedication, and unwavering support of our team, their support networks, and our wider composting community.
Our approach
Community composting is about empowering people of all backgrounds and cultures to access local solutions to managing food waste, process valuable growing nutrients, and unlock the power of sharing as a community that strengthens and nourishes us all.
Wherever you are, whatever resources you have available, we would like to help you succeed in composting alongside your family, friends, and neighbours.
